College of Humanities partners with U Career Success

By Karen Marsh Schaeffer

The College of Humanities has partnered with U Career Success and is excited to welcome Daniel J. Moseson as a career coach for humanities students. Moseson is working alongside the Department of Communication career coaches, Giovanna Percontino and Dominic Militello, who have been working with students since Jan. 2023. Career coaches meet with students one-on-one to help them with career exploration, professional goals, resumes, internship/job application and more. They offer a variety of services and can help students at any stage of career development.

Moseson has been a graduate student career coach for four years and his goal is “to help students understand and explain the great value and wide application of their training, so they can find meaningful, livable careers.” He believes deeply in the importance of a humanities education and wants to help students convey their valuable skills to employers.

What does a career coach do?

Career Coaches can help students identify potential career options, build their brand, review resumes, prepare for interviews, negotiate salaries and more.

How do I schedule a career coaching session?

Students can schedule a 30-minute coaching session with a career coach here. Students are encouraged to start working with a coach early and to meet with them often to reach future career goals.

What is U Career Success?

Starting in Spring 2023, Katie Hoffman-Abby was named director of U Career Success after a successful pilot program with four colleges and departments. The goal of U Career Success is to improve student job placement during school and post-graduation. All students can now take advantage of one-to-one career coaching regardless of major. Students also have access to professional headshots, a closet of professional clothes and studios for video interviews.
