Giovanna is dedicated to helping Communication students – her goal is to advise them on the pathway toward enriching work experiences and a career. She proactively supports robust career activities like resume creation, interview preparation and innovative job search strategies.

After experiencing cooperative education at her alma matter – Northeastern University, Giovanna’s teaching experience was the perfect springboard toward lifelong learning. As a workforce youth coach, Giovanna supported students with dynamic work readiness seminars. Coaching and counseling innovations are what drives her.

Finding Giovanna’s “why” and honoring the things in her life that give her purpose is a priority.

Dan Moseson joins the College of Humanities as a career coach after four years as a graduate student career coach. Dan’s goal as coach is to help Humanities students understand and explain the great value and wide application of their training so they can find meaningful, livable careers. He believes deeply in the importance of humanities education and wants to help you show employers what you’re really capable of. 

Dan arrived at the University of Utah after completing a PhD in the Department of Religion at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. His research focused on the field of “contemplative studies,” which explores the use of meditation techniques in education, activism, and scientific research. When he’s not working, Dan can be found hiking in the mountains, playing guitar in Salt Lake City, and photographing lightning. 

What I can help with: I can help you with all aspects of career exploration and preparation. They all come down to your most fundamental humanities skills - building self-knowledge and making persuasive arguments. Self-exploration can help you discover the range of possible career paths that suit you best. The argument I can teach you to make is about the match between an employer’s needs and your education, accomplishments, skills, passions, and values.

My philosophy: My philosophy has always been “quality over quantity.” You have the communication skills to write excellent resumes and cover letters and interview extremely well. We can focus these skills to help you build the career you want.

Fun Fact: During a hot summer hike on Black Mountain (near City Creek), I was followed by vultures who thought I was going to fall over. They swooped within 30 feet of me. Fortunately, I had a backpack full of water bottles and the patience to pace myself.
