Undergraduate Research Symposium

Every semester, the Office of Undergraduate Research hosts the Undergraduate Research Symposia (URS). URS provides a scholarly forum for University of Utah students who are working with faculty mentors to present their work to students, faculty, and other members of the U community. Undergraduate students from all disciplines at the University of Utah are invited to present their research and creative work.
At the fall 2024 symposium, Hannah Salas, a student in History and Theatre, worked with English faculty mentor, Maeera Shreiber to present "Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome": "Cabaret" as a Case Study of Holocaust Commemoration, 1966-2024. View Hannah’s presentation.
Undergraduate Research Journal
Students who participated in the 2024 Summer Program for Undergraduate Research have now published their projects in RANGE: Undergraduate Research Journal, 2024 issue 2. The journal’s primary goal is to highlight research conducted by undergraduates. Learn more about 2024 SPUR projects.

Marylinda Gonzalez, an English and Ethnic Studies major who worked with faculty mentor Ed Munoz has published her research in a piece titled “Utah’s Diverse Latinidades.”

Natalia Lopez, who is working on a bachelor's degree in Humanities and University Studies, published research she completed with others while supervised by faculty mentor Sara Grineski titled “Examining differences in opinions on environmental policy in Salt Lake County.”

Tianye Asuna Dai studying English at Davidson College and worked with faculty mentor, Anne Jamison in English, Kate Isaacs, and published research titled “Learning about Fan-Fiction Genres via Data Science.”
Wilkes Scholars Program
Wilkes Scholars Program is part of the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program and helps fund students who are conducting research in the area of climate challenges.
