Ellen Christina Steffensen Cannon Scholarship & Fellowship
The Steffensen Cannon Scholarship was established in 1989 by Hugh C. Cannon in honor of his mother, Ellen Christina Steffensen Cannon. In June of 1895, she was one of 48 people, 22 of them women, to graduate from the University of Utah. Ellen became a wife, mother, teacher and courageous homesteader, among many other things. The scholarship enables students in the Colleges of Education and Humanities to pursue academic excellence without the financial burden of employment.
