Humanities ASUU Representatives | Reese Van Dyke
The Associated Students of the University of Utah (ASUU) is the official student government, composed of elected student leaders who represent and advocate on behalf of the student body. Structured similarly to the U.S. government, ASUU includes executive, legislative, and judicial branches that work together to provide student resources, host events and programs, and serve as a liaison between students and University administration. All enrolled students are automatically members of ASUU. In the College of Humanities, elected ASUU officials also serve as leaders in the Humanities Recognized Student Government (HUM-RSG).

I’m originally from Colorado Springs and currently heading into my second year at the University of Utah. My passion for public service began in high school, where I was deeply involved in my community and served as student body president. That experience sparked my desire to support others, and when I arrived at the U, I knew I wanted to continue that work. I got involved with ASUU to help serve my peers and contribute to our campus community.
If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I’m here to serve. Whether you have questions or concerns or need help navigating university life, I’m always happy to assist you or connect you with someone who can help.
I’m double-majoring in philosophy and history because I believe understanding the world requires both ethical insight and historical context. Many of today’s challenges are rooted in long-standing social and moral questions, and I want to be part of the conversations that lead to meaningful change.
The best part of my experience at the U so far has been the community I’ve built through trial, error, and even a few failures along the way. I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything. Taking risks and trying new things during my first year helped me grow in ways I never expected, and I’m excited to keep building from here.
