Q: What is a pleasant surprise you discovered while living in the Humanities House?

A: Living in the Humanities House has made nearly everything on campus so much easier, from getting to classes to enjoying my own space while still forming a close community!

Q: How long have you been at the University of Utah?

A: I'm currently in my second year here at the University of Utah.

Q: What would you say is the biggest advantage to living in the Humanities House (perhaps compared to other on-campus housing)?

A: I think the Humanities House gives students more opportunities to get to know their peers than many other on-campus housing options. There have been multiple fun events with the house that has allowed everyone to get to know one another, connect outside of formal events, and even start creating our own house dinners.

Q: Why did you apply to live in the Humanities House? (If you didn’t apply directly, are you glad you ended up here?)

A: I applied to live in the Humanities House because it sounded really fun, honestly. I read online that there'd would be tea with faculty members and other events for students to connect with the college. After that, I knew I wanted to join myself!

Q: What is the most fun thing you’ve done as part of the Humanities House so far?

A: The most entertaining activity thus far has been axe throwing with the House! Most of us were kind of bad at it, but it was a really fun way to first get to know one another and relieve some of the awkwardness.

Q: Quick! A witch is going to turn you into an animal for a year and you have 30 seconds to decide which animal. What would you pick and why?

A: Polar bear because they're really cute and probably warm.

Q: What is your favorite place on campus? What about it makes it special to you?

A: My favorite place on campus is LNCO. Since I work in the Dean's Office, I've spent most of my college time in that building. Whether I'm going to classes or work, I've come to think of the building as my "home base."

Q: What Humanities House amenity are you most grateful for or find most useful? (Kitchen, library, dining room, in-house laundry, TV room, etc.)

A: I love the Humanities House library; it's probably my favorite part of the house. Although I haven't read any of the books myself yet, I really appreciate that they're even being offered - plus it makes the perfect cozy study spot.
