HUMANITIES Internship SPOTLIGHT | AVA AHN

Ava Ahn, a Communication major, is currently interning with Mahk Advertising for the Spring 2025 semester. Her role with the advertising company has helped her explore how communication intersects with marketing and advertising strategy, deepening her understanding of how the concepts she’s learned in class apply in the real world.

“My previous internship in Washington, DC showed me how communication plays a role across industries, and my current internship with Mahk Advertising has further expanded my perspective,” Ava said.

Ava came into the internship with strong interpersonal communication skills and experience using tools like Canva, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint. Since starting her internship, she’s added program management, data analysis, and leadership to her skillset. One of her favorite projects involved tracking the added value of broadcast stations from across the country. It gave her insight into how advertising functions on a large scale and the impact it can have across different markets.

“These experiences have given me clarity on what I want to pursue in the future. I highly recommend gaining as much hands-on experience as possible. It’s the best way to grow and discover your path.”

With a passion for contributing to global communities and a strong interest in the intersection of politics and communication, Ava’s work at Mahk Advertising has given her new tools and confidence to pursue her goals. Her advice to other students considering internships? Step out of your comfort zone. It can lead to clarity, confidence, and career direction.
