Humanities Student Success Hub

Coming fall 2022, the space will connect students
with the college, the campus and their peers

Nov. 9, 2021 – The University of Utah is excited to announce a campaign to build a Humanities Student Success Hub on the first floor of the Carolyn Tanner Irish Humanities Building. The new, student-centered space will act as a front door to the College of Humanities, connecting students with support, information and peers in an unprecedented way. Designed based upon research outlining the resources students need to thrive at the U, a campaign is underway to debut the Humanities Student Success Hub in Fall 2022.

Thanks to a generous matching challenge grant from the Alternative Visions Fund, every dollar donated for this project will be matched up to $200,000. The O.C. Tanner company has generously provided a lead gift of $100,000 to kick off the campaign, and with the help of generous alums and donors, the college is more than halfway to their $400,000 goal.

The Humanities Student Success Hub will provide students with information about the college’s many departments and programs with the help of digital screens and a student-staffed information desk. The space will also give students immediate access to a variety of helpful resources such as advisors, internship coordination, career coaching, scholarships and financial aid all in one convenient location. Addressing the need for humanities majors to have a community space, the Hub will also include a student board room, study booths, a large lobby for new student orientation and events, a coffee shop and plenty of meeting spaces for collaboration.

The Bean Yard will have a storefront in the Hub.

Alternative Visions Fund
The humanities community is invited to double the impact of their gift to the College of Humanities by donating to the Humanities Student Success Hub today, with every dollar matched by the Alternative Visions Fund. All donors of $1,000+ will be acknowledged on a donor wall to commemorate the many supporters helping to reach the $400,000 goal.
