Natalee Patterson
Major: Communication - Strategic Communication Emphasis
Internship: Intermountain Food Equipment
Natalee Patterson, a Strategic Communication major, is interning with Intermountain Food Equipment this semester. Having previously worked for a food manufacturing equipment company managing blogs and social media, Natalee knew she had to apply. Her previous experience with social media, marketing, and infographics perfectly aligns with her role at the company, where she’s responsible for building and maintaining an online presence to promote weekly updates and highlights.
“This internship will hopefully set me up for success for the future because I am building network connections along with having the freedom to put fourth my ideas, while gaining valuable feedback.”
This paid internship leverages the skills Natalee has developed from her time in school.
She credits her courses in web design, marketing, and management that have prepared
her to contribute significantly to the company’s website and social media strategies.
“I’ve learned so much about engaging with customers and building a powerful online
presence,” said Natalee. “I also learned the importance of verbiage and images, ensuring
that everything I put out towards the company represents them so it all has to be
extremely professional, cohesive, and eye catching.”
She has particularly enjoyed collaborating with other manufacturers to create infographics
for new product spotlights. The flexibility and support provided by Intermountain
Food Equipment have made this internship a rewarding experience, and Natalee is confident
that the connections and feedback she’s gained will set her up for future success.
Balancing her 16-hour work week with 15 credit hours, Natalee advises fellow students
to be open and honest about their capacities and to manage their time effectively
to maintain a healthy internship, school, and life balance.
