The College of Humanities, in partnership with the Utah Asia Campus, is pleased to announce that Jay Jordan, Professor of Writing & Rhetoric Studies, will serve as the inaugural UAC-COH Faculty Liaison. Hollis Robbins, Dean of the College of Humanities, who is currently visiting the Utah Asia Campus in Incheon, South Korea, says, “I am delighted that Jay, who has been so foundational to the success of Humanities at the UAC, will serve in this new role, as we expand our courses and faculty here.” Randy McCrillis, Senior International Officer for the Utah Asia Campus, is also enthusiastic about the creation of this position. “Given Jay’s history with the campus, we are excited to have him in this new leadership role.”
In this capacity, Jordan will support UAC student, staff, and faculty engagement in addition to advancing the missions of the University of Utah main campus and of the COH. The mission of the Faculty Liaison is to help foster a sense of belonging for faculty at UAC, build bridges between and among College of Humanities faculty and departments across both campuses, support the development of new courses, support the rollout of the newly created Diplomacy program, and more.
Avery Holton, Professor of Communication and Chair of the Department of Communication, is looking forward to the closer ties heralded by Jordan’s new role: “This is a dynamic time for our Utah Asia Campus, and Jay will provide a tremendously rich and deeply international perspective in his capacity as UAC-COH Faculty Liaison.”
For his part, Jordan is looking forward to the opportunity too. “I have been excited about UAC since I worked there during its first year of operation,” says Jordan. “As someone who is committed to the value of international education, I look forward to supporting faculty and students’ success in humanistic learning, teaching, and research.” The College of Humanities is confident that faculty and students on both continents will benefit from Jordan’s expertise as he steps into this role.
