Major: Strategic Communication
Department: Communication
Internship: Utah Hockey
Cameron Curran is a strategic communication major at the University of Utah. He’s found a fall/spring internship with Utah Hockey at the University of Utah. Cameron is passionate about photography and hockey, and this internship will allow him to showcase and grow his skills. He’s taken three years of photography, so he’s already well-versed in what to do. Cameron says he’s “taken photos of various sporting events and has a good eye when it comes to action photography. Hopefully, I can learn new tips and tricks to help improve my photography, land a job at a larger sporting company, and continue taking photos.” Further, he says he’s learned how to work with a team that’s on a tight schedule, which will help him professionally in the future. Cameron says to find an experience suited for you, “always reach out and dig for internships that interest you, there is definitely one!” He also advises students to finish their school work before their internship and to incorporate it into their free time—it should be something you enjoy! Cameron says Utah Hockey has “been great so far, everyone on the internship and hockey teams are so nice and welcoming. It’s a friendly environment with lots of amazing people…even as I’m in the early stages of the internship, I’d definitely do it again.” Excellent! Thanks for sharing your experience, Cameron!
