HUMANITIES Internship SPOTLIGHT | Daniela Imbrett-hook
Daniela Imbrett-Hook (she/her)
Major(s): Strategic Communication
Department: Communication
Internship: Delta Airlines
Daniela Imbrett-Hook, a Communication major, has been busy with her internship at Delta Airlines this semester. Imbrett-Hook says the University of Utah has provided her with knowledge and confidence to perform tasks and projects comfortably. "The skills I have gained in classes like writing, communication, advertising, and teamwork have made this job feel easier than I thought," she said.
Interning with Delta has shown her how many different marketing roles there are and
given her countless opportunities for networking. She said she’s learned how crucial
it is to try to connect, participate, and engage with the company's culture. "I can
see how people have taken different paths within the industry," she said. Imbrett-Hook
encourages other students to make the most of their internship experiences. She advises
students to take advantage of company resources, connect with colleagues, and not
be afraid to ask questions or seek mentorship.
Imbrett-Hook emphasizes the value of persistence and openness to opportunities. "You'll
likely receive many rejections before getting a yes," she said. "Don't be discouraged.
Be open to different internship options, whether out of state, unpaid, or in a different
role. See yourself as a valuable candidate and remember that the work you're doing
now—creating resumes, practicing interviews, preparing pitches—is noticed by recruiters."
Wow! Thank you, Daniela, and good luck at your internship!
