Hailey Edmonds

Major:  Communication - Emphasis in Journalism
Minor:  English - Creative Writing

Q: How did you decide to attend the University of Utah?

A: I decided to attend the University of Utah for the campus atmosphere, social activities, and my love for Salt Lake City.

Q: What advice would you share with other students thinking of transferring?

A: My advice would be to get involved with communities on campus that are aligned with your interests. It's easy to feel imposter syndrome on a campus you haven't spent all four years at, but don't let that get in your way.

Q: What excites you about your major?

A: My major excites me because it allows me to exercise my creative muscles. I am able to explore different mediums of communication like photography, video, web design, and writing.

Q: What was surprising about campus life or classes here at the U?

A: What surprised me about campus life was how many students were out of state. I'm from California, and at my previous university, most students were from Utah, so that was a huge plus for me at the U.

Q: What strategies or resources have helped you be successful here at the University of Utah?

A: Although the UTA bus system isn't always perfect, it saved me so much money commuting to campus.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in your remaining time at the U?

A: I am most looking forward to graduation season. Although I am trying my best to stay in the present, I can't help but be excited to celebrate my work over the past four years.

Q: How did you decide to attend the University of Utah?

A: I was attending a school nearby, and after visiting the U multiple times, I knew it was where I wanted to be.

Q: What advice would you share with other students thinking of transferring?

A: I would say that it's okay that your first choice didn't work, that you didn't fail, and that everything will work out!

Q: What excites you about your major?
A: I am very passionate about the communication field and have loved all of my classes and teachers.

Q: What was surprising about campus life or classes here at the U?

A: Even with big classes, the teachers care and focus on you.

Q: What strategies or resources have helped you be successful here at the University of Utah?

A: When I transferred here, I made a promise to myself that I would join clubs and be as outgoing and involved as possible. This led me to join Delta Gamma, which has been one of my favorite parts of college.

Q: Are there any specific transfer-friendly spaces, programs or events you would recommend?

A: Talking to your advisor has always been my go-to!

Q: How has your transfer experience shaped your future goals?

A: My transfer experience has shown me that sometimes things don't go according to plan, and that the difficulties and obstacles you face can positively impact your life if you go with them!

Q: What are you most looking forward to in your remaining time at the U?

A: I am looking forward to graduating with my friends and getting my degree!
