“One of the most meaningful experiences I had during my time at the University of Utah Asia Campus was producing independent films with my friends on campus. We called ourselves ‘Pocket Production,’ meaning we created independent films with a small budget from our pockets. The experience taught me how to work well with a team and apply what I learned in the classroom to the real world."

Celebrating Student Success: Graduate Students Fellowships & Scholarships 2024/2025
The Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) offers full-time graduate students the opportunity to dedicate an academic year to their research or projects. The fellowship provides financial support, allowing fellows to focus exclusively on their work. Proposals are reviewed and awardees are selected by a committee of University of Utah faculty members active in research and/or creative work from across the campus.

“My family came to Utah as refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. When you are a refugee and move to a new country, your community provides critical support as you work to build a better life for yourself. Growing up as a person of color and immigrant in Utah, I experienced a lot of things that I wanted to change. These experiences encouraged me to pursue a career in public service to help my community and make the world better for people like me."

“I am originally from Gallup, New Mexico. I was raised about an hour away from Gallup in Crown Point, New Mexico. It’s a very rural area on the Navajo Reservation. Because I grew up in a rural community, there were not many opportunities for me to learn more about my culture and the things that mean the most to me, especially in school. It was difficult for me to go to school and always feel like I was different and didn’t have a place, even though it was my home."
